Red Flags and Three Questions to Ask
Question these marketing phrases: "no calibration needed," "lab-grade accuracy," "hospital-grade," "replaces your meter," or any guarantee that a reading is safe for dosing decisions. Watch for vague wording: if a "wellness tracker" shows a "glucose score," ask what that number means.
Wording stays vague for a reason. Google's publisher policies prohibit showing ads on content with obviously false claims or health claims that contradict authoritative scientific consensus, and content promoting unapproved drugs or supplements is not eligible for ad monetization. Sellers who want ads avoid claims that cross that line.
Before you buy, ask three questions:
- What does the FDA record say this device is intended to do?
- Cleared or approved for glucose, or just a wellness feature?
- What has my clinician said about changing my monitoring routine?
